Worthless

by ZAHRA SEYYAD

I come from brains, from bravery I was born resilient, resisting - tied to the rebellion.

From a home where I am everything, to where I’m nothing or less, because I stand out more.

I am the nurse bound to mum’s bed, I am the incoming disease hidden in me, I am the princess watching from afar, I am a testament to inherited strength.

They fed me creativity and charisma, nurtured my compassion, but my tears are the elixir that quench your oppression.
